persuasive writing tries to convince. its purpose is to convince the reader that the writer’s point of view, or opinion, is correct. in a persuasive paragraph, the writer presents an opinion and supports it with facts, statistics, logical reasoning, the opinions of others, or scientific research. the points that the writer makes are organized in a logical fashion – usually with the most important point listed last in order to emphasize it. many persuasive paragraphs end with a restatement or summary of the writer’s opinion put into different words.
