the pawnees
the pawnee were known as a tribe of plains indians. this is because they lived in the middle of the united states in the great plains. the climate was dry. there are no forests but lots of grasslands. the pawnees were both hunters and farmers. pawnee men mainly went out to hunt buffalo and antelopes. the women grew crops of corn, beans, and squash. the pawnee were very famous for their pottery. the women did most of the child - care and cooking. when they were not doing these things, they were making pottery. the pawnee lived in houses made of earth. these houses were large and round with grass on top. the pawnee used buffalo skins to make clothes, moccasins and to make coverings for their houses.
the seminoles
the seminoles were a tribe of southeastern indians. the seminole lived in what is known as present - day florida. the climate was wet. the seminoles did it all - they farmed, hunted, fished, and gathered food. seminole men did most of the hunting and fishing, catching game such as deer, wild turkeys, turtles, and alligators. seminole women were farmers and raised crops of corn, beans, and squash. the women also did most of the child - care and cooking. the seminole villages consisted of houses made of palmetto leaves with open walls. these houses were called chickees. the seminoles used plants mainly for clothing.
