throughout the history of this country, immigrants and their children have helped to build a highly dynamic economy, ensuring a greater level of prosperity for everyone living in the united states. in an interview, jane todd stated, “immigrants who come to this country are often highly entrepreneurial; they made up nearly 30% of all new business owners in 2017.” they are also twice as likely to start a business especially (retail shops and restaurants), and these new businesses create thousands of new jobs for americans each year. this, in turn, feeds millions of dollars into the united states economy and brings life to communities through business offerings.
as a result, immigrants are helping rural areas repopulate and grow, saving some of america’s small towns from economic collapse. in addition, these individuals bring rich cultural traditions, delicious foods, and unique kinds of music to enrich our multicultural society.
