on a hot and humid summer on jun 17, my sister and i were outside playing and talking with my cousin at her house. we were getting bored. as we stood there deciding what to do, we could do but then we heard a faint sound of barking in the distance. my older cousin had told us multiple times about a little dog that lived down the road but we were too bored to really listen. “be careful if y’all go down there because there is an aggressive dog down there,” my older cousin said.
we decided to walk down the road to my cousin’s friend’s house. her friend had some games and stuff, so we were excited. as we walked, we kept joking around, but the barking seemed to get louder. we passed by the house where the dog lived. but their door to the fence was open, and we didn’t notice. but then the dog, which was small but was very feisty, came running from the backyard. we hadn’t noticed it running after us but then we heard its barking and seen it and took off running.
when we were running down the road to my cousin’s house, which wasn’t too far, the dog chased us all the way there. my cousin and sister jumped on the back of my cousin’s mom’s car, and i made it to the front porch. the dog didn’t see me as it was busy trying to jump and barking trying to get my cousin and sister. so i ran in the house to go get my older cousin to help them so he came out and used the water howls to run the dog away. he looked at us and said nothing.
so when my cousin’s mom and my mom got back, my older cousin told them what happened. my mom and her mom were not happy because my older cousin told us more than once about the dog but we didn’t listen. so finally after both got done yelling at us for not listening we had to stay in the house until they said we could go out or until we learned to listen. and if we didn’t we couldn’t go past my cousins house when we came over the next time.
