cities. the king of umma brought his army to kish hoping to conquer the small
kingdom. sargon was sent to persuade the invading king that peace would be the
best way forward. however, sargon joined forces with the invading king and fought
against ur-zababa. the king of kish was defeated and forced to flee his kingdom.

before long however, sargon again turned on the people who trusted him when he
brought his army to fight against the king of umma. after a key victory in the
battle, sargon declared himself the king of kish and then went on to conquer the
whole of the region of mesopotamia. he had achieved what no one before him
had managed, and the world’s first empire was born, the akkadian empire. sargon
founded the cities of akkad, which was the capital of his empire, and babylon,
which became a powerful city centuries later. he claimed to have conquered all
four corners of the universe. sargon ruled for a total of fifty-six years and died in
2279 bc. the akkadian empire however, continued to rule for another 100 years.

first leader to use the composite bow, which was able
